Aqualyx Fat Dissolving Injections are a specially-formulated compound solution which is injected by an expert into the problem area. It works by attaching to fatty deposits, breaking them down over time. The fat is then naturally dissolved and flushed out by the body.

The treatment should only be performed by a fully trained medical staff.

Typically, two treatments are required for each area being treated; patients report good tolerance of the treatment.

The treatment will be repeated between two-four times depending on the number of small pockets of fat tissue to be reduced. The treatment is repeated every 4-6 weeks.

After each treatment patients can expect some side effects as: swelling, redness and skin irritation and tenderness in the area treated, which will subside after four to six days.

The Aqualyx® treatment is suitable for tackling areas around the face or on the body, wherever fat gathers. For example, areas that might be treated include:

• Tummy, ‘muffin top’, stomach or abdomen

• Gips or ‘saddle bags’

• Thighs – including inner thigh area

• Knees

• Buttocks

• ‘Bingo wings’ – upper arms

• Inner thighs

• Double chin

• ‘Man boobs’

• Fat cheeks

Contraindications: pregnancy and lactation, liposdystrophy, pathological conditions and for those under 18 years or over 60 years.

Why isn't diet/exercising working enough?

Sometimes regular exercise and a well-balanced diet still don’t give the streamlined physique we’re after. The cause for this is often genetic, relating to the structure of fat cells in certain areas. So if your mother had a tendency to a double chin, you may unfortunately inherit it.

The human body is designed to store fat in certain areas as an ’emergency ration’. Fat cells in the deep subcutaneous tissue are difficult to diminish. Aqualyx® literally reduces the amount of fat cells in those areas most resistant to toning.

What to expect?

The fully trained staff will clean the area and apply numbing cream – we allow 15 minutes for this to work. The cream is wiped off, and a grid-like area will be marked out on the skin with a pen.

Small injections will be administered into the fat layer of the skin. These are generally minimally painful. Up to 10 small doses may be put into the fatty area under the chin. For large body parts, a large cannula will be placed in the area to disperse the treatment. This minimises bruising, discomfort and swelling.

The whole process will take 30-50min minutes, and you can return to normal activities straight away. If the double chin area is treated, swelling will start almost immediately. We will use cold pack on the area to help with the swelling.You can return to your normal activities once you feel ready, but the area may feel tender for up to 2 weeks. We advise no strenuous exercises for seven days to allow the treatment to settle in.

If you have the double chin treated we would also suggest you pick a time where you can avoid social events for seven days. You can wear a scarf or turtle-neck jump to hide the swelling for until it settles.
